What does a financial planner not do?

Category: Financial Planning

If you want to make better decisions with your money, we can help. However, working with us is not for everyone.

We help our clients take the necessary steps to get the most out of their money. There are some things some expect from us which bear little relevance to what we do. Some of these are:

Talk about financial products more than we need to.

Like parachutes, financial products are often necessary. They have little relevance beyond making sure they do the job you need them to do for you.

Know what will happen to investments in the short term.

Nobody can predict what will happen in the future. If they could they would not need to work with other peoples money.

We do not gamble our client’s money based on guesswork. Instead, we focus on spreading it far and wide. We do so to protect our clients from as many eventualities as possible. Anything we recommend reflects what has worked before, not short-term speculation.

Claim to have any shortcuts to help a client achieve their goals

If someone can only meet their goals by spending less now or in the future, we will tell them. Telling our clients the truth about their money is essential to what we do. It can be the first time our clients have heard it.

If any of these things are important to you, our services may not be for you. If you want to talk about what we believe is important for our clients, feel free to book in a free no-obligation chat here or get in touch.
